let me talk about Christoph Niemman:
Je trouve ses dessins géniaux, de même que la quasi-totalité des dessins du NewYorker, en effet Christoph Niemman a travaillé plusieurs fois en collaboration avec le New Yorker(voir gallery 1/New Yorker covers sur son site) ainsi que le New York Times magazine, il a aussi créé des livres pour enfants et des animations de type GIF/FLASH, notamment une affiche interactive présentant le MoMA(The Museum of Modern Art) de New York.
I find his drawings brilliant, just as the near full of his draws of NewYorker, indeed Christoph Niemman worked several times in collaboration with the New Yorker as well as the NewYork Times magazine. He also created books for children and animations of type GIF/FLASH, in particular an interactive poster presenting MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art) of New York.
Je trouve son style très efficace, il retranscrit bien ses idées, encore plus efficaces pour leurs parts! J'aime également la manière avec laquelle il décline ses idées en plusieurs illustrations, tout en restant dans le même registre, en changeant la façon d'amener sa pensée.
I find his style very effective, it bring well his ideas, even more effective for their parts! Also I like the manner which it declines its ideas in several illustrations, while remaining in the same register, by changing the way to bring its thought.
Dans le cadre du workshop de notre première semaine de cours : « presse-papier » nous avons du réaliser des affiches en deux parties ayant pour thèmes un mot (par personne) définissant le journal, afin d’exprimer notre point de vue sur ce dernier.
During the workshop of our first week of work: “news - paper” we have to carry out posters in two parts having for topics a word defining the newspaper, in order to express our point of view on this.
Affiche/diptyque réalisée pour le mot "illustration". Je suis parti du principe que l'illustration est utilisée pour apporter un complément au texte, une meilleure compréhension, voire un remplacement total de ce dernier, j'ai donc recréé une image du journal "la république" à base de caractères typographiques, le texte devient l'illustration. L'image est reprise deux fois en « ACSII »(texte formant une image): la partie du haut reforme la photo tandis que la partie du bas, que l'on pourrai prendre pour du texte simple, la reproduit une nouvelle fois de manière moins évidente en intégrant la légende originelle de l'image. Le diptyque reforme la configuration illustration/légende du journal. L'image ASCII du bas est volontairement composée de caractère de ponctuation, rappelant ainsi la trame et l'aspect "braille" en haut et bas de page des journaux. L'article d'origine a été choisi pour son coté cocasse, puisque la photo représente trois personne portant des citrouilles sa lègende rapporte: « 7e festival des cucurbitacées sur le site de Notre-Dame de Piétat. Corinne entouré de Karl et Alain organisent le festival les 10 et 11 octobre. » Poster/diptych realized for the word " illustration". I left the principle that illustration is used to bring a complement, a better comprehension, even a replacement to the text. I recreated a picture of the newspaper " la république" with typographical characters, the text becomes illustration. The picture is taken twice in “ACSII” (text forming an image): the top part reforms the photograph while the bottom part reproduces it once again in a less obvious way by integrating the original legend of the picture. The diptych forms the configuration illustration/legend of the newspaper. The ASCII picture of bottom is voluntarily made up by punctuation’s character, pointing out the trame of newspapers. The subject was selected for its humoristic dimension, since the photograph accounts for three persons carrying of pumpkins, the legend says: “7th festival of cucurbitaceous on the site of Notre-Dame de Piétat. Corinne surrounded by Karl and Alain organize the festival on October 10.
